Central Saskatchewan 2016 Camp 21 (Jul 18 - 19)

Early morning sunrise at 5:00 a.m.  Note the sun is red tinged because of forest fire smoke.

This was the only pileated woodpecker that I saw, but I heard the loud repetitive "wuk, wuk" call at many campsites.

Mackerel sky typically precedes rain, and rain it did in the evening.

Camp 21, after travelling 13 km.

Lots of fireweed flowers now for salad with my evening meals.

Bluejoint (marsh reed grass), a very common grass of marshy environments.  I caught pike for supper beside this grass where they sheltered in the shade.
