Central Saskatchewan 2016 Camp 23 (Jul 23 - 24)

Bunchberries just starting to ripen.

Evidence of an artistic woodpecker, probably a yellow-bellied sapsucker.  It would have been interesting to watch her creating this masterpiece.

Wild/northern black currant.  I eat these on the spot as there are usually only a few.

Lingonberries not ripe enough yet (for me) to eat.

This black bear was already eating bunchberries and lingonberries.

Camp 23, after travelling five km, including four portages totalling 1315 metres.  This was the same camp as Camp 3 after circling to the lake where I started my trip.  Because I was going upstream, I had to portage the most downstream rapid that I had run the first time, hence the difference in distance of 280 metres.
